Growing up in Oregon under the guidance of a biologist parent and a skilled cook, Sara Sherman’s life was an adventure of foraging for berries, wildflowers, mushrooms, and the abundance of seafood on the Oregon Coast, sparking an enduring fascination and love for the natural world.
Sara brings a deep-rooted passion for the environment, community health, and sustainable food systems to the HDFFA board. Starting at a young age, Sara developed a strong connection to food and its impact on well-being, leading her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in community health, where she further explored the intersection of food, health, and community development. As Director of Sales at Brasada Ranch, Sara is dedicated to curating unforgettable culinary and outdoor experiences for both travelers and locals, fostering a vibrant community centered around sustainable lifestyles and adventure. Prior to her career in hospitality, Sara dedicated her talents to Ten Rivers Food Web in Corvallis, contributing to initiatives aimed at strengthening regional food systems and promoting food equity. Her experience in event management, budgeting, and working as a board administrator for a food co-op have built her skills in governance and community engagement, filling Sara with enthusiasm to actively contribute to meaningful change at HDFFA and in Central Oregon.
In her free time, Sara enjoys wondering with her husband and beloved pup, immersing herself in water-related activities, camping, backpacking, snowboarding, and indulging in a good book.
