Hannah LewisRural Development Initiatives, Impact & Engagement Manager

Originally from Michigan, Hannah grew up on a beef farm, where she developed a deep appreciation for land stewardship, hard work, and the rhythms of rural life. From an early age, Hannah was active in 4-H — as both a participant and later a club leader —which instilled a strong sense of community, leadership, and a commitment to supporting youth and families in agriculture.

Over the past decade, Hannah has worked in rural leadership and community development across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. With a master’s degree in economics from the University of Oregon, she now works as the Impact and Engagement Manager at Rural Development Initiatives, a nonprofit in the Pacific Northwest that supports rural communities to build resilience through inclusive engagement, capacity-building, and strategic collaboration.

Hannah’s passion for rural equity closely aligns with the High Desert Food & Farm Alliance’s mission to support a healthy and thriving food and farm network in Central Oregon. She shares HDFFA’s vision of a prosperous, inclusive local food system—where farmers and ranchers are paid fair market value, families have access to nourishing food, and rural economies are strong and equitable.

When not working, Hannah enjoys exploring Central Oregon’s trails with her golden retriever.
