Buyer-Seller Mixer
Join HDFFA for a Buyer/Seller Mixer at the Bend Farmers Market!
WHEN: June 10th at 10:30 AM
WHERE: In front of The Commons Cafe in Brooks Alley
WHY: Supporting lasting investments by Bend food trucks in our local food system
The High Desert Food & Farm Alliance is hosting a Buyer/Seller Mixer at the Downtown Bend Farmers Market, and would like you to be involved. We’re bringing together food truck vendors from around the city to engage with our most sustainable suppliers, providing you with one time funds and the opportunity to build valuable business relationships.
If you’d like to represent local farmers on your menus, help us invest in our local food system, and provide the freshest ingredients to your customers, please join us on Wednesday, June 10th at 10:30 in front of The Commons Cafe in Brooks Alley. RSVP required. RSVP by emailing agsupport@hdffa.org.
How it works:
Depending on the number of interested food truck vendors, HDFFA will provide $100-200 per attendee to purchase local ingredients. These can be used to create a brand new special or in one of your classics, as long as it shows off the market haul!
HDFFA will gather all participating vendors at The Commons thirty minutes before the start of market. We will provide coffee to everyone attending, offer this opportunity to market vendors to come say hello, and discuss recipes and opportunities for collaboration.
Once the market begins at 11, you can shop for your food truck using the provided market bucks. All vendors will know you’re coming and may be prepared with price sheets, business cards, and their best offers.
As a way to cross-promote local food at your food truck, all participants are expected to share posts featuring the dishes using ingredients purchased at the market through their social media outlets. Guidance from the HDFFA communication team will be forthcoming.
HDFFA is committed to building a sustainable food system in Central Oregon, and sees potential relationships between food trucks and local growers as a critical focus area. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to build lasting connections with local food providers and deepen our food scene’s investment in local products.
For more information and to RSVP, email us at agsupport@hdffa.org.
Alpaca Picnic Brunch
Come hang out with a herd of gorgeous (and they know it) alpacas and prepare to have your mood dramatically improved. We’ll set you up in a dreamy picnic spot—table, tablecloth, and a locally sourced picnic lunch box, the whole vibe—right in the middle of the alpaca pasture. Then? You snack, sip something tasty (non-alcoholic), and soak in the delightful chaos of alpacas doing alpaca things all around you. There will be a raffle (yes, you can name an alpaca or win a private behind-the-scenes tour ), alpaca products for sale, and plenty of petting opportunities.
Some will stroll right up like, “hello yes I am your new best friend.”
Some will keep their distance like aloof little celebrities (or teenagers).
ALL of them will be absurdly cute.
You’ll get handfuls of alpaca snacks (a.k.a. social currency) to win over your favorites—or be gently judged by the ones who are not impressed. Either way, you’re part of the herd now.Perfect for dates, families, friend hangs, or a team outing people will actually be excited about.
Hot tip: These floofs have been freshly sheared (mid-May), meaning they’re currently in their adorably awkward, long-necked goofball era on their way back to full cloud status. It’s a whole look—and we support it.
No matter who you bring (or how many alpaca selfies you take), this is a solid 10/10 experience.
The Experience
You’ll be nestled into one of the beautiful pastures at Oregon Alpaca Experiences in Tumalo, Oregon—think grassy fields, shady trees, and a rotating cast of curious alpacas wandering through your picnic like they own the place (because… they do).Expect grazing, gentle curiosity, and the occasional “please feed me immediately” face that is extremely hard to resist.Warning: spontaneous smiling, laughter, and excessive photo-taking are very likely—and highly encouraged.
VIP tickets include early entry and extra up-close photo opportunities (aka prime alpaca content), complimentary raffle tickets, and a special take-home gift.
Sponsor Opportunities want your company or business to be recognized as a special friend to these adorable alpacas, and have your employees love you for it (of course you do!)? Email us to find how you can sponsor at all levels at heather@hdffa.org
What We’ll Spoil You With
A cozy picnic setup (table + blanket—choose your adventure)
A whimsically delicious “Paca Picnic” box featuring locally sourced ingredients
Alpaca treats (yes, you will make friends)A whole herd of ridiculous, fluffy entertainment
Yes, we provide the alpacas. You’re welcome.
Got dietary needs? We’ve got you.Just let us know when you book, and we’ll make sure your picnic is just as delightful as the company.

Roots So Deep Film Screening
Join HDFFA & Oregon Pasture Network for a screening of selected material from the Roots So Deep documentary series – where farmers, ranchers, and scientists team up to explore whether changing the way we graze cattle could help heal the land; and maybe even combat climate change. Follow their journeys across fences, fields, and generations to see if this bold approach can turn ranching into a surprising climate solution.
Special Guest Speaker: Jeanne Carver, rancher and founder of Imperial Stock Ranch and Shaniko Wool Company. Her decades-long commitment to sustainable grazing has inspired and transformed both American ranching and the global wool industry. Most recently, Jeanne has received recognition for supplying sustainably sourced Merino wool for Ralph Lauren's official Team USA uniforms for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
Dinner will be catered by Spork.
If you are interested in farming, ranching, and exploring potential solutions to climate change, this is an event you do not want to miss!

Time: Doors open at 5:00 PM for a light dinner; programming will begin promptly at 5:30 PM
Location: Central Oregon Community College
From Ranch to Runway: An Evening with Jeanne Carver
Join the High Desert Food & Farm Alliance for a special evening with ranching, fiber arts, and conservation icon Jeanne Carver! The longtime Central Oregon resident and founder/president of Shaniko Wool Company has stewarded land in Wasco County for more than thirty years, coming into deep relationship with the landscape and lifeways of the high desert. Her work has been featured on runways, in scientific publications, on the needles of fiber artists around the world, and in the official Team USA uniforms worn at the last five Winter Olympics.
She will present on her tireless work to support the ecology of the Deschutes Basin through her dedication to land and craft. Don't miss this chance to meet Jeanne, get up close to the official Team USA outfits, and experience the generations long story of ranching in Central Oregon.
About Jeanne Carver
Jeanne is at the forefront of an economic and rural revival, helping rebuild the importance of traditional skills, connections to the origins of food and fiber, and strengthening local, regional and domestic supply chain partners. Jeanne believes the most important story she has shared is how well-managed herds of grazing animals on their ranch have revitalized grasses and contributed to healing streams and the restoration of traditional salmon runs in the Deschutes watershed. Since 2014, Jeanne has been the source and voice of American wool for Ralph Lauren’s Made in America Winter Olympic uniform program.

Cover Cropping on Diversified Small Farm Production Systems
This event is not open to the public. Registration is required.
Join us at Sungrounded Farm for a Women for the Land Learning Circle, offered in partnership with the High Desert Food & Farm Alliance and American Farmland Trust in Terrebonne, Oregon.
This hands-on, peer learning gathering is designed for women and non-binary farmers and farm workers who want to deepen their knowledge, build community, and share practical strategies for cover cropping success in Central Oregon's high desert climate.
Together, we'll explore how to integrate cover cropping into high-intensity, diversified small-farm systems with a focus on arid climates. Farmers Ashley and Caleb will share their experience developing a cover cropping system that boosts organic matter, suppresses weeds, reduces tillage, and strengthens soil biology. See their methods in action and connect with other growers prioritizing soil health while managing tight cropping rotations in sandy soils.
A locally-sourced catered lunch will be provided. Registration is required.
