STUNNING LANDSCAPES
MADRAS, CULVER & WARM SPRINGS
Markets, Hot Springs, and High Desert Discovery
Head north into Jefferson County, where the landscape opens wide and the pace naturally slows. Begin in Madras with a stop at Paradise Produce to pick up fresh, seasonal goods, or step into Madras Garden Depot to learn about high desert growing before setting out for the day.
If you’re visiting on a Saturday, wander through the Madras Saturday Market, where vendors offer produce, prepared foods, and handmade items in a relaxed, small-town setting.
Continue on to Warm Springs for a shift in scenery and experience. If your visit lines up, the Warm Springs Thursday Market brings together local food, art, and culture in a lively community setting. While you’re there, grab a bite from Twisted Teepee Food Cart, then spend time at The Museum at Warm Springs, where exhibits share the history and traditions of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. For something memorable, make your way to Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs to soak and take in the surrounding landscape.
From Warm Springs, head back south and settle in at Maragas Winery, where bold varietals and a dramatic canyon backdrop create a memorable Central Oregon wine experience.
On the way back, take in the gorgeous outdoor scenery with a visit to Lake Billy Chinook or an adventurous hike on the Tam-au-Lau Trail with views of the Crooked River near the point where it meets the confluence with the Deschutes River. This stretch of the high desert isn’t one to rush.
