Start your morning in Bend’s Old Mill District with coffee from Sisters Coffee Company and hot, fresh pastries from M’s Bakery, then head out for a stroll along the Deschutes River. After a look through the shops, rent a bike from Wheel Fun Rentals and cruise the scenic river trail into downtown Bend.

If you’re visiting on a Wednesday between May and October, roll straight into the Downtown Bend Farmers Market in Brooks Alley. This food-and-beverage-focused market is one of the best ways to sample Central Oregon in a single pass. Pick up picnic goodies from local vendors or build a spread with cheeses, crackers, pickles, and more from Wild Petals Provisions. Grab a drink from The Commons Café and head to Drake Park to settle in along the river, with mountain views and plenty of shade.

After lunch, spend some time wandering through downtown or book a tour at Deschutes Brewery or Seahorse Chocolate for a behind-the-scenes look and a tasting.

Later in the afternoon, head to Bend Brewing Company for riverside beers and live music when it’s on. When dinner calls, make your way to Dear Irene for a cozy, elevated meal, then finish the night with something sweet from Bonta Gelato or Goody’s.

When you’re ready to shift gears, head south to Sunriver Resort for the night, where a slower pace rounds out the perfect Central Oregon day. And if you happen to be there in the summer on a Thursday, pick up delicious local food and goods at the Sunriver Resort Farmers Market. Kick off your day at Black Butte Ranch, enjoying stunning views of the Cascade Mountains while you have a coffee and pastry on their outside patio.
