Sweet, Savory & Seasonal: Central Oregon’s 2024 Farmers Market Scene

There are always lots of happenings in Central Oregon, but the one we’re celebrating is Farmers Market Season!

Central Oregon has seven distinct Farmers Markets throughout the region, each with their own schedule and local flavor (pun intended). Farmers Markets are a win-win way for you to show your support for our local producers while savoring locally grown, raised, and created delicacies. The benefits of shopping at Farmers Markets include:

  • When you consume locally-grown food, each bite you take is packed with more nutrition than produce from other regions. Here’s why: when produce doesn’t have far to travel to its consumer, the farmers pick it usually only 24 hours before it’s sold to you. This means the produce can ripen naturally, giving you higher nutrients and better flavors too!

  • Buying local means you’re choosing to strengthen our local economy with every purchase. Our local farmers and ranchers are critical to our Central Oregon ecosystem. The growing season may be short in the High Desert, but the positive effects of building a sustainable regional food system are long-lasting and critical.

  • Sure, you may wait in line to pick out your tomatoes, but what better way to get to know your neighbors? There’s a positive social aspect of shopping at Farmers Markets – there’s a warm and friendly community waiting to welcome you!
