Kathy is a civil engineering associate for the City of Bend’s Engineering and Infrastructure Planning Department, working on public water and sewer projects. She grew up between New York City and Cartagena, Colobmia, but after school spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama’s indigenous Ngäbe territory, working on environmental health and rural infrastructure projects. While there, she developed a passion for diet diversification, food access, and family gardening. Ever since she has worked on weaving her various experiences in an effort to improve public health wherever she goes. In her free time, she loves hiking and exploring with her dog Annie, writing poetry, and building up her library of Latin American authors.
